 I was commissioned by women run Interior Design firm, SANDdesign, to create a unique floor painting in the lobby of the Santa Barbara Hotel. The surroundings boast a rugged coastline and natural beauty, which inspired the design of native plants painted in earth tones. In order to withstand high traffic of people with luggage the line work was etch sanded first in order to preserve the design in a natural wax sealant. Anyone that tells you hand sanding is fun is questionable...but it was worth it for letting the wood texture mix with the painting.
